Welcome!
We are proud to announce our 10th annual Student/Faculty Conference to be held at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, Mn. This year we are excited to have visiting graduate students from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, two special guest speakers including Jonathan Yuhas, the KSTP Meteorologist. Our keynote address this year will be given by Dr. Anton Treuer from Bemidji State University. Dr. Treuer will be discussing the importance of American Indian language in terms of authentic tribal survival, as well as responding to comments on his lastest book; Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians but Were Afraid to Ask (book will be available in our bookstore in College Center).
Wednesday, March 21st, will include discussion panels covering a range of topics, a special presentation by the Muslim Student Association, as well as a round-table discussion on the philosophical approach to disaster. Wednesday will conclude with a presentation/discussion with Jonathan Yuhas.
Thursday, March 22nd, will focus on student and faculty paper presentations. These include discussions on the place of art in a digital world, animals rights, problems of education and other accounts of disaster in today's world. The conference will wrap up with Dr. Treuer's keynote, followed by snacks and further discussion.
Please join us for what is sure to be some lively and informative discussion!
